- The KansasFest organizing body is pleased to announce that this year
there will be an additional Keynote speaker - none other than Steve
Wozniak.  Attendees will be able to rub shoulders with the man many of us
think is responsible for originating affordable desktop computers.  Kfest
will be held at Avila University in Kansas City, KS from July 22nd thru
the 27th.  This not-to-be-missed event is a must for every Apple II user!

- Call-A.P.P.L.E. has released 3 programs that are free for download to
subscribers.  These titles are also available on CD-ROM:

*Ampermanager is a set of over 70 ampersand (&) commands for Applesoft
BASIC, written by Rick Sutcliffe.
*Dosource 3.3, is a disassembly of Apple DOS 3.3, released in 1981 by
Lazer Micro Systems, Inc. and now distributed by A.P.P.L.E.
*The Apple Tutors package, available as a free download for
A.P.P.L.E. members, contains two tutorial disks. The first, Apple II
Tutor, covers the basics of Applesoft programming.

- Version 1.4 of SAFE has been released by Ewen Wannop. This FTP module
runs within the IIGS Spectrum telecommunications program.  Information
regarding the changes to the program as well as downloading instructions
can be found at http://www.ewannop.btinternet.co.uk/

- Andy McFadden has announced the update of his CiderPress program which
will allow Apple II users to manipulate A2 files from within a MicroSoft
Windows environment.  This shareware product handles the wide range of
Apple II file formats as well as disk images, and will also allow the user
to view super-hi-res images.  More information, including shareware

- Rich Dreher has announced that he is now taking orders for the 2nd run
of his CompactFlash for Apple II interface card.  This 2nd run is being
machine assembled and shipping will commence soon.  Additionally, Kfest
attendees will receive a 10% discount on card orders.  More information on

- An Apple II+ emulator has been released that runs under Mac OSX.  
Written by Gerard Putter, Virtual ][, includes support for installable
peripheral card modules and emulates both the cassette tape port as well
as virtual Disk ][ drives.  The program is designed to run multiple
virtual Apple II computers at the same time.  More Information about this

- People trying to find a source for Tadiran batteries for their Apple II
GS computers might try contacting EVS Supply in Richardson TX.  For ROM 01
computers, the TL-5101/P (the one with wire leads) in reportedly in
stock.  For  ROM 03, the TL-5101 is also available.  Contact them at
http://evssupply.com .  Another source of these batteries is Mouser
Electronics, www.mouser.com.
